Kongnamul muchim ( ) is one of the most popular side dishes (banchan, ) in Korean households. My ultimate favorite side dish is this nutty, crispy, and wonderful side dish! It's also a traditional vegetable in bibimbap, providing a wonderful crunch to the meal. Typically, this meal is lightly seasoned in order to highlight the natural nutty taste of the soybean sprouts. It's also quite usual to add gochugaru (red chili pepper flakes) and a dash of soy sauce for a spicy bite. The latter is more prevalent in Korea's southern areas.
