Ingredients

  • boneless, skinless chicken breasts - 500.0 g
  • soy sauce - 2.0 tbsp
  • honey or brown sugar - 2.0 tbsp
  • vegetable oil - 2.0 tbsp
  • curry powder - 1.0 tbsp
  • ground cumin - 1.0 tsp
  • turmeric powder - 1.0 tsp
  • garlic powder - 1.0 tsp
  • chili powder - 0.5 tsp
  • Salt and pepper - to taste

Cooking Steps

Step 1

In a bowl, combine soy sauce, honey (or brown sugar), vegetable oil, curry powder, cumin, turmeric, garlic powder, chili powder (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix well to form a marinade.

Step 2

Add the chicken strips to the marinade and toss until each piece is well coated. Allow the chicken to marinate for at least 20 minutes, or refrigerate for up to 4 hours for enhanced flavor.

Step 3

Preheat the grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat.

Step 4

Thread the marinated chicken strips onto the soaked wooden skewers, leaving some space between each piece.

Step 5

Grill the chicken skewers for about 2-3 minutes on each side until cooked through and slightly charred.

Step 6

Meanwhile, prepare the peanut sauce by combining peanut butter, soy sauce, honey (or brown sugar), lime juice, grated ginger, minced garlic, and water (as needed to adjust consistency). Stir until well combined and smooth.

Step 7

Once the chicken skewers are cooked, remove them from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes.

Step 8

Serve the Chicken Satay with the peanut sauce for dipping. Garnish with fresh cilantro or chopped peanuts, if desired.
