Prepare the pizza dough: In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, salt, sugar and olive oil. Add warm water and mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Let the dough rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
Prepare the tomato sauce: In a saucepan, combine crushed tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, salt, sugar, and oregano. Simmer over low heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 475°F (246°C). Place a pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven while it preheats.
Assemble the pizza: Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface. Transfer it to a pizza peel or baking sheet.
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
Bake the pizza: Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Garnish and serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Slice and serve immediately.
