Ingredients

  • lamb or beef, thinly sliced - 1.0 lb
  • olive oil - 2.0 tbsp
  • lemon juice - 1.0 tbsp
  • garlic, minced - 2.0 pcs
  • dried oregano - 1.0 tsp
  • ground cumin - 0.5 tsp
  • Salt and pepper - 1.0 to taste
  • Greek yogurt - 1.0 cup
  • cucumber, grated and squeezed to remove excess moisture - 1.0 half
  • garlic, minced - 1.0 pcs

Cooking Steps

Step 1

Warm the pita bread rounds on the grill or in a toaster for a few seconds to make them pliable.

Step 2

To assemble the sandwiches, spread a generous amount of tzatziki sauce on each warmed pita bread round.

Step 3

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated meat for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked through and slightly charred. Remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes. Slice the meat into thin strips.

Step 4

Place a portion of sliced gyro meat on top of the sauce, followed by sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, and optional toppings like sliced red onions and crumbled feta cheese.
