Ingredients

  • thinly sliced beef (ribeye or sirloin) - 1.5 lb
  • soy sauce - 0.5 cup
  • brown sugar - 0.3 cup
  • mirin (rice wine) - 3.0 tbsp
  • sesame oil - 2.0 tbsp
  • garlic, minced - 4.0 pcs
  • ginger, grated - 1.0 tbsp
  • pear, grated (optional for sweetness) - 1.0 tbsp
  • sesame seeds - 1.0 tbsp
  • green onions, thinly sliced - 4.0 pcs

Cooking Steps

Step 1

In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and grated pear (if using).

Step 2

Place the thinly sliced beef in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the beef, ensuring each slice is well coated. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2-3 hours, or overnight for maximum flavor.

Step 3

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.

Step 4

Remove the marinated beef from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 15-20 minutes.

Step 5

Grill the beef slices for 2-3 minutes per side, or until cooked to your desired level of doneness.

Step 6

Sprinkle the grilled beef with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Step 7

Serve the Korean BBQ Beef Bulgogi with fresh lettuce leaves for wrapping and steamed rice on the side.
