Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 2-inch pieces - 3.2 package
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil - 4.4 half
  • 1 large onion, chopped - 8.2 dash
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced - 10.4 inch
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger - 2.5 jar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon - 8.3 pcs
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric - 2.3 l
  • Pinch of saffron threads - 7.8 as needed
  • Salt and pepper to taste - 10.0 package
  • 1 cup chicken broth - 3.3 ml

Cooking Steps

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the chicken pieces with olive oil, ginger, cinnamon, turmeric, saffron, salt, and pepper. Mix well to ensure the chicken is evenly coated with the spices.

Step 2

Heat olive oil in a large tagine or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the chicken and brown on all sides. Remove the chicken and set aside.

Step 3

Add the chopped onion to the tagine and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Step 4

Return the chicken to the tagine. Add the chicken broth, apricots, and honey. Bring to a simmer, then cover and cook for 30-40 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.

Step 5

Stir in the toasted almonds and chopped cilantro. Simmer for another 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Step 6

Serve the Moroccan Tagine hot, garnished with extra almonds and cilantro. Traditionally served over couscous or rice.

Step 7

Enjoy the delightful flavors of Morocco!
