Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 2-inch pieces - 3.4 can
  • 1 teaspoon salt - 2.6 box
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper - 1.3 mg
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger - 4.0 g
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric - 6.6 mg
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin - 1.6 cup
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon - 7.9 pcs
  • Pinch of saffron threads - 10.1 kg
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil - 6.1 pcs
  • 1 medium onion, chopped - 9.1 as needed

Cooking Steps

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the chicken pieces with salt, pepper, ginger, turmeric, cumin, cinnamon, and saffron. Mix well to ensure the chicken is evenly coated with the spices.

Step 2

Heat olive oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pot or tagine over medium heat. Add the seasoned chicken and brown on all sides. Remove the chicken from the pot and set aside.

Step 3

Add the chopped onion to the pot and cook until softened and translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Step 4

Return the chicken to the pot. Add the chicken broth, honey, and dried apricots. Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and cook for 30-40 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.

Step 5

Stir in the toasted almonds and chopped cilantro. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 6

Serve the Moroccan Chicken Tagine hot over a bed of couscous. Garnish with additional toasted almonds and fresh cilantro, if desired.

Step 7

Enjoy the rich and flavorful Moroccan Chicken Tagine with your family and friends!
