Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces - 6.3 half
  • 1 cup plain yogurt - 5.1 cup
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice - 8.8 dash
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste - 4.9 jar
  • 2 tsp garam masala - 1.1 gal
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder - 2.1 tbsp
  • 1 tsp cumin powder - 6.1 fl oz
  • 1 tsp coriander powder - 1.6 half
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste) - 3.0 cup
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil - 4.2 ml

Cooking Steps

Step 1

Marinate the chicken: In a bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, garam masala, turmeric, cumin, coriander, and red chili powder. Add the chicken pieces and mix well. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or preferably 2-3 hours in the refrigerator.

Step 2

Grill the chicken: Preheat your grill or oven to 400°F (200°C). Thread the marinated chicken onto skewers and grill for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until cooked through and slightly charred. If using an oven, bake for 20-25 minutes.

Step 3

Prepare the sauce: In a large pan or pot, heat oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another minute. Stir in tomato paste and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Step 4

Add spices: Add garam masala, turmeric, cumin, coriander, and red chili powder to the pan. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until fragrant. Pour in crushed tomatoes and bring to a simmer.

Step 5

Simmer the sauce: Reduce heat to low and simmer the sauce for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly. Stir in heavy cream and sugar. Season with salt to taste.

Step 6

Combine chicken and sauce: Add the grilled chicken pieces to the sauce and stir to coat. Simmer for another 5-10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

Step 7

Garnish and serve: Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves. Serve hot with naan bread or rice.

I found this recipe to be quite bland. I followed the instructions carefully, but the flavor just wasn't there for me. Maybe I didn't use enough spices. Disappointed.

Very good recipe! The grilling step gave the chicken a lovely char. The sauce was rich and tasted authentic. I added a touch more chili powder for some extra heat. Highly recommend!

Absolutely delicious! The flavors were incredible, and it tasted just like my favorite Indian restaurant. The chicken was perfectly cooked, and the sauce was rich and creamy. I will definitely be making this again!

A decent Chicken Tikka Masala. The sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste, but the chicken was good. I might try adjusting the amount of sugar next time.

This recipe was fantastic! The spice blend was spot-on, and the instructions were easy to follow. My only suggestion would be to provide more detail on the grilling process for the chicken – I slightly overcooked mine. Otherwise, a fantastic dish.
