Feel free to add vegetables such as spinach or zucchini to the meat sauce for extra nutrients and flavor. Enjoy this delicious and hearty lasagna!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef - 7.2 can
  • 1 onion, diced - 6.7 qt
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced - 6.4 gal
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes - 5.9 half
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce - 3.6 bag
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste - 3.0 inch
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning - 2.9 cup
  • Salt and pepper to taste - 8.0 cm
  • 1/2 cup butter - 7.7 bottle
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour - 4.2 cm

Cooking Steps

Step 1

Prepare the meat sauce: In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain any excess fat. Add diced onions and garlic and cook until softened. Stir in tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 2

Make the béchamel sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to create a roux. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.

Step 3

Cook the lasagna noodles: Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain and rinse with cold water to prevent sticking.

Step 4

Assemble the lasagna: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer lasagna noodles over the sauce, overlapping as needed. Spread half of the ricotta cheese over the noodles, followed by a layer of meat sauce and a layer of béchamel sauce. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.

Step 5

Repeat layers: Repeat the layers of noodles, ricotta cheese, meat sauce, béchamel sauce, and mozzarella cheese.

Step 6

Bake the lasagna: Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the lasagna is heated through.

Step 7

Rest and serve: Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before cutting and serving.

This was a delicious lasagna. The cheese was beautifully melted and bubbly. Next time, I'll probably add a touch of nutmeg to the béchamel. A comforting classic!

The lasagna was a little dry. I think I may have overbaked it, even though I followed the instructions closely. The flavor was okay, but the texture was not ideal. Needs more moisture.

This lasagna was absolutely amazing! The meat sauce was rich and flavorful, and the béchamel was so creamy. My family devoured it. I especially loved how the cheese got perfectly browned. Will definitely make this again!

The lasagna was excellent, though I found the béchamel sauce a bit thick. Next time, I will add a little more milk. Otherwise, it was a very satisfying meal.

The lasagna was good, but not outstanding. The meat sauce was a bit bland, even after adding extra herbs. The béchamel was perfect, though. Overall, a decent weeknight meal.
