This classic Bolognese sauce is a rich, hearty, and flavorful meat sauce that's perfect for pasta. It features a combination of ground beef and pork, simmered in a tomato-based sauce with aromatic vegetables, herbs, and a touch of cream for richness. The long simmering time allows the flavors to meld together, creating a truly delicious and satisfying sauce. Enjoy it with your favorite pasta, such as spaghetti, tagliatelle, or pappardelle. This recipe is easy to follow and can be customized to your liking. Add more vegetables, herbs, or spices to create your own unique version. You can also use different types of meat, such as ground veal or lamb. Serve it with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese and a side of crusty bread for a complete meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil - 2.5 can
  • 1 pound ground beef - 7.6 drop
  • 1/2 pound ground pork - 8.8 quarter
  • 1 medium onion, chopped - 1.9 cm
  • 1 carrot, chopped - 8.7 fl oz
  • 1 celery stalk, chopped - 8.4 lb
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced - 4.4 tsp
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano - 1.9 ml
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil - 5.5 l
  • 1 teaspoon salt - 0.6 pcs

Cooking Steps

Step 1

In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and pork and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned.

Step 2

Add chopped onion, carrot, and celery to the pot and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 3

Stir in minced garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1 minute more, until fragrant.

Step 4

Pour in red wine (if using) and cook until the wine has reduced slightly, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 5

Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and beef broth to the pot. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for at least 1.5-2 hours, or longer for a richer flavor, stirring occasionally.

Step 6

Stir in heavy cream (if using) during the last 15 minutes of simmering. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

Step 7

Serve Bolognese sauce over your favorite cooked pasta. Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley, if desired.

Fantastic recipe! The sauce was rich, flavorful, and the perfect consistency. The whole family loved it. I followed the recipe exactly and wouldn't change a thing.

The sauce was okay, but I found it a little too oily. I had to drain some of the fat during the cooking process. The flavor was good, but it could be improved.

Disappointed. The sauce was too sweet and tasted a little burnt, even though I was very careful. I'm not sure what went wrong, but it wasn't a success for me.

My family loved this! The sauce was so flavorful and the meat was perfectly cooked. It's a great recipe for a weekend dinner. I especially liked the addition of cream at the end; it added a lovely richness.

It was good, but not great. The flavor was a bit bland. Maybe I needed to add more herbs or spices. I followed the recipe exactly, but it just lacked a certain depth. I might try it again and experiment with the seasonings.
