This Chicken Parmesan recipe is a delightful Italian-American classic. Breaded chicken cutlets are pan-fried to golden perfection, then smothered in a rich tomato sauce and melted mozzarella cheese. It is baked until bubbly and irresistible. This comforting dish is perfect for a family dinner or a special occasion. Each bite offers a satisfying combination of crispy, savory, and cheesy goodness. It pairs wonderfully with spaghetti or a fresh salad.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breast cutlets - 5.2 gal
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs - 9.1 lb
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese - 5.4 ml
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder - 1.0 l
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning - 3.4 pcs
  • Salt and pepper to taste - 8.4 inch
  • 2 large eggs - 5.3 dash
  • 1/4 cup olive oil - 6.7 bottle
  • 2 cups tomato sauce - 9.3 as needed
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese - 1.5 pt

Cooking Steps

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a baking dish with a light coating of cooking spray.

Step 2

In a shallow dish, combine breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.

Step 3

In another shallow dish, whisk eggs. Dip each chicken cutlet in the egg mixture, then dredge in the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring it's fully coated.

Step 4

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook chicken cutlets for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer to the prepared baking dish.

Step 5

Top each chicken cutlet with tomato sauce, spreading evenly. Then, sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese.

Step 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 7

Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired. Serve hot with spaghetti or your favorite side dish.

It was okay. The chicken was a little dry, even though I didn't overcook it. The sauce was good, but nothing special. Maybe I'll try a different type of breadcrumb next time to get a crispier crust.
