Indulge in the comforting flavors of my Shepherd's Pie recipe! This classic dish features a hearty base of seasoned ground lamb and vegetables, topped with a fluffy and golden mashed sweet potato crust. The combination of savory meat and sweet potato creates a harmonious blend of tastes and textures that will leave you feeling satisfied and nourished. Shepherd's Pie is a perfect weeknight meal or a crowd-pleasing dish for gatherings. The dish is rich in proteins and carbs and has a very homey and nostalgic touch to it.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs ground lamb - 4.4 jar
  • 1 large onion, diced - 3.5 tbsp
  • 2 carrots, diced - 0.9 mg
  • 2 celery stalks, diced - 7.8 can
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced - 5.0 pt
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste - 5.2 pcs
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce - 8.9 g
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme - 6.9 half
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary - 5.2 mg
  • 1 cup beef broth - 9.9 pinch

Cooking Steps

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large skillet or pot, brown the ground lamb over medium-high heat. Drain any excess grease.

Step 2

Add the diced onion, carrots, celery, and garlic to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 3

Stir in the tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, dried rosemary, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Step 4

Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.

Step 5

Meanwhile, prepare the mashed sweet potato topping. In a large bowl, mash the cooked sweet potatoes with butter, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy.

Step 6

Pour the lamb and vegetable mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Spread the mashed sweet potato topping evenly over the meat mixture.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the sweet potato topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!

The lamb was a little bland, and the sweet potato was a bit undercooked. I followed the recipe as best as I could but the overall result was underwhelming.

It's a good recipe, but could use more seasoning. The lamb was a bit bland for my taste. The sweet potato was nice and fluffy though.
