Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken pieces - 6.9 bag
  • 500g basmati rice - 3.9 dash
  • 1 cup yogurt - 3.8 whole
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste - 9.3 qt
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder - 8.3 lb
  • 2 tsp red chili powder - 5.6 inch
  • 1 tbsp garam masala - 5.4 to taste
  • Salt to taste - 2.8 l
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced - 3.2 ml
  • 1/4 cup ghee or oil - 5.4 lb

Cooking Steps

Step 1

Marinate the chicken pieces with yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes.

Step 2

Soak the basmati rice in water for 30 minutes. Then, parboil it with a pinch of salt and a bay leaf until it's about 70% cooked. Drain and set aside.

Step 3

In a large pot, heat ghee or oil. Add sliced onions and fry until golden brown. Remove half of the onions and set aside for garnish.

Step 4

Add the marinated chicken to the pot and cook until it's browned on all sides.

Step 5

Layer the parboiled rice over the chicken. Sprinkle saffron milk, chopped cilantro, mint leaves, and the remaining fried onions on top.

Step 6

Cover the pot tightly with a lid and cook on low heat for about 45 minutes, or until the rice is fully cooked and the flavors have melded together.

Step 7

Gently fluff the biryani with a fork and serve hot with raita or your favorite side dish.

The biryani was okay. I found the spice level a bit mild for my taste. I might try adding more chili next time.

The flavor was good, but the rice got a little bit sticky. Might need to adjust the cooking time.

Good recipe, but I found it a little time-consuming. The flavor was great, though. Maybe a slightly faster cooking method would be appreciated.
