Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces - 3.9 as needed

  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced - 5.8 drop
  • 1/2 cup yogurt - 5.0 pt
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste - 3.1 to taste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder - 6.1 inch

  • A few strands of saffron soaked in milk - 2.0 oz

Cooking Steps

Step 1

Marinate the chicken pieces with ginger-garlic paste, yogurt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Let it marinate for at least 2 hours.

Step 3

In a large pot, heat ghee or oil. Add sliced onions and fry until golden brown. Remove half of the fried onions and set aside for garnish.

Step 4

Add marinated chicken to the pot and cook until it's partially done.

Step 5

Layer the rice over the chicken. Add saffron soaked in milk, chopped cilantro, mint leaves, and the remaining fried onions.

Step 6

Cover the pot tightly with a lid or aluminum foil. Cook on low heat for 45 minutes, or until the rice is fully cooked and the chicken is tender.

Step 7

Gently fluff the biryani with a fork and serve hot. Garnish with extra cilantro and fried onions.

It was okay. The flavor was there, but the rice was a bit dry. I might need to adjust the cooking time. Overall, it was a decent weeknight meal.
