This recipe brings the heartwarming flavors of classic chicken noodle soup to your table. Tender chicken, soft noodles, and an array of fresh vegetables create a comforting and nourishing meal perfect for chilly days or when you need a little extra care. The broth is rich and flavorful, simmered to perfection to extract the essence of each ingredient. It's easy to make, and the result is a bowl of pure comfort. Enjoy every spoonful of this timeless favorite, a true classic for a reason. Feel free to add herbs like thyme or bay leaf for an extra layer of flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts - 4.6 bottle
  • 1 large onion, chopped - 6.4 kg
  • 2 carrots, peeled and chopped - 3.3 tbsp
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped - 5.8 ml
  • 8 cups water or chicken broth - 1.8 mg
  • 1 cup egg noodles - 10.1 whole
  • Salt and pepper to taste - 4.4 drop
  • Fresh parsley or dill, chopped (optional) - 4.2 ml
6 Servings

Cooking Steps

Step 1

In a large pot or Dutch oven, place the chicken breasts and cover them with about 8 cups of water. Add the chopped onion, carrots, and celery. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.

Step 2

Remove the chicken from the pot and set aside to cool slightly. Shred the chicken using two forks.

Step 3

While the chicken is cooling, strain the broth through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the cooked vegetables. Discard the vegetables or set them aside if you prefer to add them back later.

Step 4

Return the strained broth to the pot. Add the shredded chicken and bring the broth to a gentle simmer. Stir in the uncooked egg noodles.

Step 5

Cook the noodles according to the package directions, usually about 8-10 minutes, or until tender. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

Step 6

Season the soup with salt and pepper to taste. If desired, add fresh herbs like parsley or dill. Stir well to combine all the flavors.

Step 7

Ladle the chicken noodle soup into bowls and serve hot. Garnish with extra fresh herbs if desired. Enjoy!

The soup was too salty for my taste. I followed the recipe exactly, but it just wasn't quite right.

Fiona Wilson3

It's a good basic recipe. I think it could use more vegetables. Maybe carrots and celery would be a good addition.

Ulysses Young2

The soup was a bit too bland for my liking. I think it needed more salt and pepper. A bit disappointing.
