In a large bowl, combine the lamb with 1 tablespoon olive oil, ginger, cinnamon, turmeric, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix well to coat the lamb evenly. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
Heat the remaining olive oil in a large tagine or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Brown the lamb in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Remove the lamb and set aside.
Add the chopped onion to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Return the lamb to the pot. Add the chicken broth, dried apricots, honey, and saffron threads (if using). Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and cook for 2 hours, or until the lamb is very tender.
While the tagine is simmering, prepare the couscous according to package directions.
Once the tagine is ready, stir in the toasted almonds and fresh cilantro.
Serve the lamb tagine over a bed of fluffy couscous. Garnish with extra toasted almonds and cilantro, if desired. Enjoy!
This tagine is a flavor explosion! The spices were spot on, and the combination of lamb and apricots is heavenly. It was easy to make, and the result was restaurant-quality. Highly recommend giving this recipe a try!
Absolutely divine! This tagine is a true taste of Morocco. The lamb was incredibly tender, and the sauce was rich and flavorful. The apricots added the perfect touch of sweetness. I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out perfect. Highly recommend!
I struggled a bit with this recipe. The lamb wasn't as tender as I'd hoped, and I found the sauce a little bland. I'm not sure what went wrong. I might try it again with some modifications to see if I can improve it.
Amazing! The combination of spices is perfect. The lamb practically melted in my mouth. The presentation was beautiful with the toasted almonds and cilantro. My guests loved it. Definitely making this again.
It was okay. I found the tagine a bit too sweet for my taste, but the lamb was cooked well. I think I might have used too many apricots. The flavors were complex, but maybe not quite to my liking. I would try it again, modifying the apricot amount.
