Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Cook the penne pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Pour in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and heavy cream. Season with salt, pepper, sugar, and Italian herbs. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add the cooked penne pasta to the sauce and stir to combine. Pour half of the pasta mixture into the prepared baking dish.
Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese over the pasta. Top with the remaining pasta mixture and the remaining mozzarella cheese.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Garnish with fresh basil leaves and grated parmesan cheese before serving.
Excellent! The creamy tomato sauce was a winner. I loved the simplicity of the recipe, and the final product was restaurant quality.
The sauce was a little watery. I followed the recipe exactly, so I'm not sure what went wrong. The flavor was decent, but the texture was off.
This is the best baked pasta ever! So easy to make and tastes so good. My family loved it, and I will definitely be making this again and again.
It was okay. The sauce was a little bland for my taste, I might add more garlic next time. The cheese was good though.
It was a decent meal, but I think it needed more seasoning. Maybe some Italian herbs would improve the flavor.
