Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Cook the penne pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Pour in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and heavy cream. Season with salt, pepper, sugar, and Italian herbs. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add the cooked penne pasta to the sauce and stir to combine. Pour half of the pasta mixture into the prepared baking dish.
Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese over the pasta. Top with the remaining pasta mixture and the remaining mozzarella cheese.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Garnish with fresh basil leaves and grated parmesan cheese before serving.
This is the best baked pasta recipe I've ever tried! The sauce is so rich and flavorful, and the cheese melts perfectly. Highly recommend it!
Pretty good, but a bit too cheesy for my liking. I might reduce the amount of mozzarella next time. The basil was a nice touch.
This recipe is a lifesaver! So easy to make and tastes amazing. The instructions were easy to follow and the result was a comforting and satisfying meal.
Great recipe! Easy to follow and the result was very tasty. I added some vegetables as suggested and it turned out great.
Simple and delicious! The parmesan cheese on top really elevated the dish. Would definitely make this again.
