Brew strong coffee and let it cool. In a shallow dish, combine cooled coffee with rum or marsala (optional).
In a bowl, whisk together mascarpone cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
Arrange a layer of coffee-soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a serving dish or individual glasses.
Spread a layer of the mascarpone cream mixture over the ladyfingers.
Repeat layers of ladyfingers and mascarpone cream, ending with a layer of cream. Dust generously with cocoa powder. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.
A very nice tiramisu. I appreciated the flexibility to adjust the sweetness. I did reduce the sugar, and it was perfect for me. Great recipe!
Very good recipe. The layering was easy. I will try adding a little bit of rum next time to test the flavor.
It was good, but not great. I think I needed a stronger coffee for the ladyfingers. Also, the cocoa powder seemed a bit bitter. Maybe a different brand would make a difference.
