Cook the pasta according to package directions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and sugar to the skillet. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian herbs. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Stir in heavy cream or crème fraîche into the tomato sauce. Mix well until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste.
Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss to coat the pasta evenly. If the sauce is too thick, add some of the reserved pasta water until desired consistency is reached.
Serve immediately, garnished with fresh basil leaves and grated Parmesan cheese. A drizzle of olive oil can be added for extra flavor.

Excellent recipe! Simple ingredients, but the taste is amazing. My family loved it. Definitely a keeper!
This recipe is a lifesaver! Perfect for a quick and tasty weeknight meal. The flavors are so well-balanced. Highly recommend!
Fantastic! This is the perfect creamy tomato pasta. The creaminess of the sauce is perfectly balanced with the acidity of the tomatoes. A definite winner!
I found the sauce a bit bland. I had to add a lot of salt and pepper to get it to taste right. Maybe more garlic or herbs would help.
Really enjoyed this recipe. It was easy to follow and the results were delicious. I added some shrimp for extra protein, and it worked perfectly. Will definitely make it again.
