Cook the pasta according to package directions. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Pour in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and sugar. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Stir in the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Cook for another 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat. If the sauce is too thick, add some of the reserved pasta water until it reaches your desired consistency.
Stir in the fresh basil.
Serve immediately, garnished with extra Parmesan cheese and fresh basil.
The sauce was too thin. I tried to cook it down, but it didn't thicken up much. Disappointed with the results.
Wow! This is restaurant-quality pasta. The sauce is so rich and creamy, and the basil adds a wonderful freshness. I will be making this again and again!
Simple, yet satisfying. The recipe is straightforward, and the result is a flavorful pasta dish. I would definitely make it again.
This recipe is amazing! The sauce was so creamy and flavorful. My family loved it, and it's now a regular in our dinner rotation. Highly recommend!
This recipe is fantastic! The sauce is perfectly balanced, and the pasta cooks up beautifully. A definite keeper!
