Cook the pasta according to package directions. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Pour in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and sugar. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Stir in the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Cook for another 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat. If the sauce is too thick, add some of the reserved pasta water until it reaches your desired consistency.
Stir in the fresh basil.
Serve immediately, garnished with extra Parmesan cheese and fresh basil.
Great recipe. It's quick, easy, and tastes fantastic! The sauce is perfect and the fresh basil is a great touch. Definitely recommend this one.
Absolutely delicious! The fresh basil really makes a difference. I served it with garlic bread, and it was a hit. This is going to be a new favorite!
It was okay. Not the best tomato sauce I've had, but certainly not the worst. I might try a different type of tomato next time.
