Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
While pasta cooks, crisp prosciutto: Place prosciutto slices on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until crispy. Let cool, then crumble.
Prepare garlic breadcrumbs: In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and breadcrumbs, and cook until golden brown. Season with salt and pepper.
Make cheese sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly.
Reduce heat to low. Add cheddar, Gruyère, and Parmesan cheeses, stirring until melted and smooth. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
Combine pasta and cheese sauce: Add cooked pasta to the cheese sauce and stir to coat evenly.
Transfer to baking dish: Pour the mac and cheese into a greased baking dish. Sprinkle with crumbled prosciutto and garlic breadcrumbs.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
This was a hit! Easy to follow recipe and the result was delicious. The kids especially loved the crispy prosciutto. Definitely a new family favorite.
It was good, but not exceptional. The béchamel sauce was a bit tricky to get right, and I'm not sure I achieved the desired creaminess. The prosciutto was good though.
OMG! This mac and cheese is divine. The flavors are perfectly balanced, and the textures are amazing. The crispy prosciutto is the star of the show. Highly recommend!
Best mac and cheese I've ever had! The combination of cheeses was perfect, and the prosciutto added an amazing salty kick. The breadcrumbs were perfectly toasted. Five stars!
This mac and cheese is a game changer! The prosciutto adds a wonderful salty element, and the breadcrumbs give it a perfect crunch. Excellent recipe!
