This classic Italian dish is a symphony of flavors and textures. Tender gnocchi are tossed in a rich, creamy pesto sauce, then baked to golden perfection with a blanket of mozzarella cheese. The combination of the soft gnocchi, the fragrant pesto, and the melted cheese creates an irresistible culinary experience. Serve it as a comforting weeknight meal or a crowd-pleasing dish for a special occasion. Feel free to add grilled chicken or shrimp for extra protein. This dish is very satisfying, the aroma of the pesto baking in the oven will definitely leave you wanting more.

Ingredients

  • 1 (16-ounce) package gnocchi - 10.3 qt
  • 1 cup prepared pesto sauce - 5.7 can
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese - 7.7 half
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional) - 6.2 inch
  • Salt and pepper to taste - 8.9 bottle
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil - 1.3 quarter
6 Servings
Prep Time

Cooking Steps

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

Step 2

Cook the gnocchi according to package directions. Usually, you'll boil them until they float to the surface, which takes just a few minutes. Drain well.

Step 3

In a large bowl, combine the cooked gnocchi with the pesto sauce. Toss gently to coat all the gnocchi evenly.

Step 4

Pour the gnocchi mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out in an even layer.

Step 5

Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the gnocchi and pesto mixture.

Step 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden brown.

Step 7

Let the baked gnocchi rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!

Good, but nothing special. It's a solid recipe, but I've had better pesto gnocchi. The cheese was good, though.

Simple to prepare, and the end result was excellent. The pesto and cheese combination is a classic, and this recipe nailed it. I will repeat this recipe!

This was a great weeknight meal. Easy to make and the flavors were fantastic. I added some grilled chicken, which made it even better. Will definitely make it again.
