Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a 9-inch oven-safe skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add sugar and cook, stirring constantly, until caramelized.
Arrange apple slices tightly in a circular pattern over the caramelized sugar. Cook for 15-20 minutes, until apples are softened and slightly caramelized.
Roll out puff pastry to a 12-inch circle. Place pastry over apples, tucking edges down inside the skillet.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until pastry is golden brown and puffed up.
Let cool for 10 minutes. Place a serving plate over skillet and carefully invert the tart.
Serve warm, with crème fraîche or vanilla ice cream if desired. Enjoy the delightful Tarte Tatin!
Brush with apricot jam, warmed in the microwave for a few seconds, for shine.
A classic for a reason. Simple ingredients, but the result is so elegant. I used Honeycrisp apples and they were fantastic.
Absolutely divine! The caramelization of the apples was perfect, and the pastry crust was flaky and delicious. My family devoured this Tarte Tatin.
The best Tarte Tatin I've ever made! The apples were perfectly caramelized and the crust was flaky and delicious. A truly delightful dessert.
This Tarte Tatin is a masterpiece! The flavors are incredible, and the presentation is stunning. Highly recommend.
It was good, but I think I needed to cook the apples a bit longer. The crust was a little underdone in the middle.
